Edge Protocol employs a Proof of Stake with Sharding consensus mechanism, which enables high throughput and low latency while maintaining a high degree of decentralization. The sharding mechanism divides the network into smaller, more manageable subsets, each of which can process transactions in parallel, resulting in high scalability and low latency. The EDGE Blockchain also provides support for smart contracts, which are executed on a virtual machine that runs on top of the blockchain, enabling developers to create and deploy dApps in a secure and efficient manner.
